Mike Mozart, also known by the graffiti and street art moniker MiMo, is a prolific American pop artist, toy designer, and corporate illustrator. He is widely recognized for creating commercial children's characters, designing Disney and Uncle Scrooge products for over 45 years, and his association as an early mentor and collaborator to pop artist Alec Monopoly.
MiMo designed a substantial amount of artwork for Alec Monopoly for almost 5 years, creating hundreds of pieces for him. He is a street artist from way back in the 70's and became a Professional Illustrator and Product Designer in the 1980's. He has illustrated over 100 licensed kids' books with Disney, Warner, Ninja Turtles, and dozens more.
This piece is a rare example of MiMo’s artistic proficiency in the manner of Pablo Picasso.
Our gallery representative was at MiMo’s studio in late 2020 when he first began to grow a passion for paintings in the manner of Picasso. This piece was one of MiMo’s first pieces done during this time period, and MiMo refers to it as his best painting he ever created.
“Picasso’s Wife, Monopoly’s Mistress” is an original piece of art on fine birch panel, executed with rare materials including a myriad of different metal flakes that were sourced by MiMo from six different countries, and acrylic paint, all of which is protected under a luminescent resin finish on a 44" x 48" canvas. It is signed and dated "MiMo, 2020".
Photos truly do not do this piece justice. The dazzling metal flakes appear almost like diamonds.
This is a rare piece of MiMo's due to its subject and size.
This piece was purchased directly from MiMo personally, and comes with a certificate of authenticity from Bowen Art Reserve LLC.
