This elegant composition portrays a young woman swinging in a verdant landscape, surrounded by two gallants.

The tapestry is framed by a border imitating a picture frame with bouquets of flowers.

A renowned painter during the reign of Louis XVI, Jean-Baptiste Huet (1745-1811) was one of the principal creators of cartoons for the royal manufactories of Beauvais and later Aubusson.
His talent for depicting pastoral scenes full of freshness and lightness contributed significantly to the revival of French tapestry at the end of the 18th century.

The series of pastoral amusements celebrates the elegant pastimes of the aristocracy and upper middle class, who idealized nature and rural life. Swings, fishing, walks, music, games, and scenes of seduction make up this cycle, which enjoyed immense success.

Good overall condition, with wear consistent with age and damage, old repairs and restorations, and some missing pieces.
