Beautiful Art Deco patinated bronze sculpture of a dancer with a thyrsus before a flute-playing faun, on a Portoro marble base.
The base is signed JD Guirande and bears a "gold medal" stamp. This is a recognized pseudonym for Joe Descomps, a renowned Art Deco artist known for his sculptures of women and dancers. Joe Descomps exhibited at various shows, including the Chicago exhibition of 1893, and received numerous awards at the Salon des Artistes Français between 1891 and 1937.
The patina shows signs of age, and there are chips and nicks on the marble base; the flutes have been restored.
