one painting portrays the ponte dei scalzi, with elegantly dressed figures strolling along the canal as gondolas pass beneath the bridge. The companion work depicts the piazzetta san marco, centred on the imposing column of saint theodore, with the venetian lagoon, moored gondolas, and classical architecture beyond. Together, the paintings form a harmonious pair celebrating two of venice's most recognisable scenes.

both works are signed aldo grossi to the lower left and are presented in their original giltwood frames with decorative corner mouldings, complementing the traditional character of the paintings. Rich in architectural detail and bathed in soft mediterranean light, they are fine examples of italian decorative painting from the period.

condition

presented in good antique condition - each painting displays an attractive network of age-related craquelure, together with minor surface wear and patination consistent with age.
