Designed by Carlo Nason for Mazzega in the 1970s, the LT328 table lamp exemplifies the experimental approach to volume and light that characterized Venetian glass design during the decade. The model reflects Nason’s interest in modular construction and the perceptual transformation of form through layered transparency.
The lamp is composed of four blown glass elements progressively inserted one within the other, generating a compact spherical volume structured by subtle horizontal articulations. The softly granular surface treatment enhances the diffusion of light, producing a controlled luminous atmosphere while reinforcing the sculptural coherence of the composition. This nested construction reveals both technical precision and a refined exploration of spatial density, typical of Nason’s work in Murano during the period.
The chromed metal base provides a discreet structural counterbalance, allowing the glass volume to retain its visual autonomy. Produced by Mazzega, the piece reflects the company’s role in translating traditional glassmaking expertise into innovative lighting typologies aligned with the evolving language of Italian design in the 1970s.
