An authentic late 19th to early 20th-century French patinated spelter sculpture titled "Le Cid" by French sculptor Eugène Laurent (1832–1898). This classic Troubadour-style work depicts Rodrigo Díaz de Vivar, the legendary 11th-century Spanish knight.
The figure is beautifully captured in a pensive, contemplative pose, clad in detailed medieval armor and chainmail while leaning on his greatsword. The front of the base is incised with the title "LE CID", and the side features the cast signature of the artist, "E. Laurent."
True to its period, the sculpture features a completely hollow interior with a classic rough-cast underside showing the natural oxidation of the antique zinc alloy. The exterior retains its deep, historic faux-bronze patinated finish.
