Original monotone triptych etching with aquatint, in the manner of Jean-Michel Basquiat, created in 1993 by an unknown artist. Basquiat had a style which combined elements of African and South American art with his own unique symbolism, incorporating wordplay as well as themes of urban life, popular culture, and history. All these elements are present in this striking etching, which also features mirror image elements.
Printed on heavy deckled-edge etching paper, with an image shown on a black background to highlight the edge. Sheet size: 20-3/4 x 14-3/4 inches; etching size: 11-3/4 x 10-3/4 inches; with each panel having strong plate lines. Twice mirror-image initialed "ABJ" with the date 12-5-93, and once intitialed "ABJ" in cursive text with the same date. Mint condition, from the private collection of a member of the Print Club of New York.
