A rare and highly decorative pair of early 19th-century French gilt bronze candelabras from the Restoration / early Louis Philippe period. These substantial pieces showcase the refined craftsmanship of the era with elaborate Neo-Gothic inspired bronze castings featuring finely modeled masks, bold lion heads, and intricate scrolling foliate ornamentation.

Each candelabra is raised on a sculptural trefoil base with bold scrolling feet, richly detailed with hand-hammered and meticulously chiseled elements. Slender tapering columns rise to support four elegantly scrolling arms, each terminating in a candle socket, together with a fifth central candle holder. The entire surface retains its original fire-gilding, now beautifully mellowed by a soft, even patina that enhances the depth and character of the bronze.
Unsigned, as is customary for fine period examples of this quality. France, circa 1830.
Condition
Very good original antique condition. No losses, no damage, and no restoration of any kind. Only the lightest, most desirable signs of age and gentle use, including minor surface tarnishing consistent with nearly two centuries of history. The original fire-gilt surfaces remain intact and luminous.
