A pair of hand-blown tumblers by Seiichiro Inamine (稲嶺盛一郎) of Ryukyu Glass Workshop Kizuna, Okinawa. Inamine is the son of Seikichi Inamine, the pioneer of Okinawan awa (foam) glass, and continues the family technique — glass blown from recycled bottles, worked so that dense fields of trapped air crust the surface like sea foam.
Each glass shades from pale amethyst at the rim to clear at the base, the lower body thick with bubbles and run through with trails of aubergine and slate blue. No two passages of colour repeat across the pair. The rim carries an applied band of darker glass; the maker's seal is impressed to each base.
For cold drinks only — the glass is not heat-resistant. Hand wash recommended. Variations between the pair are inherent to the foam-glass process; each tumbler is singular. Labeled by Maker
