This reversible wooden board features a chess surface on one side and a backgammon layout on the other. Deep indigo tones, turquoise medallions, and finely painted ornamental detail create a striking decorative object, framed by a hand-shaped scalloped walnut edge that is unusual to find on a game board.

Tazhib is the art of illumination, the gold-and-pigment ornamentation historically used to decorate manuscript pages. Here it is applied by hand to wood, medallion by medallion, and sealed under a clear protective resin finish.

Supplied with a full set of chess pieces, matching backgammon checkers, and a protective hard case.

Board 49.5 x 49.5 x 6.5 cm (19.5 x 19.5 x 2.6 in). Protective case 54 x 29 x 9 cm.
