Original victorian horsehair filled hand dyed green leather chesterfield fully buttoned sofa a very good looking and well made sofa, the upholstery looks to be the original hand dyed hide, you can tell the hand dyed pieces because if you pull back the folds of leather you can see the natural undyed colour inside the creases. This is a horsehair filled model and has that great crunch. It’s a true gentleman’s club original with the fully coil sprung frame, what this means is the backrest, arms and front edge are all coil sprung all over, these were classed as metal frame chesterfields and the finest and most comfortable on the market a coil sprung front edge is especially rare and expensive to make, instead of having a solid bar of wood which sits right at the front of the sofa you have a line of vertically mounted springs making it extra comfortable especially when your sitting down or standing up the only addition or amendment to this piece is the feet, i have fitted new solid walnut hand turned bun feet which have been installed with 8mm metal axles so you can unscrew them for ease of transport and installation. I fitted these because the old ones had worn right down and the sofa was sitting to low to the floor, we are a lot taller than victorians and the sofas need to evolve with us! we have cleaned waxed and polished it, there will be patina marks from honest use and wear. It has faded wonderfully over the years which is why i kept the original colour, i can however have the leather fully restored and have dyed a wonderful cigar or whisky brown colour for a fee dimensions height 77.5cm seat height 44cm width 189 cm depth 87cm please note all measurements are taken at the widest point condition please view the very detailed pictures as they form part of the description around condition please note vintage period and original items such as leather seating will always have natural patina in the form of cracking creasing and wear, we recommend regular waxing to ensure no moisture is lost, also hand dyed leather is not recommended to sit in direct sunlight for prolonged periods of time as it will dry out and fade. This piece is attributed to the mentioned designer/maker. It has no attribution mark and no
official proof of authenticity,
however it is well documented in design history. I take full responsibility for any authenticity
