It is an authentic accrued patina developed through 120 years of human touch … really a piece of the artwork itself. This tabletop bust is a heavy hollow bronze of the mythological Greek warrior, Ajax, known for his prowess in battle and considered second only to Achilles. He wears a helmet with battling centaurs and eagles in relief. The signature on the underside is illegible, but the date of 1908 can be made out. There is a good chance this bronze is even older than that (other antique bronzes similar to this one were typically Grand Tour acquisitions) and perhaps gifted to a son or grandson in 1908.

This glorious authentic bronze will only be priced this low for a short time. I am ordering a marble plinth for the piece and once that comes in and I pay to get it mounted, it will be priced significantly higher. See less
