A beautiful antique French mirror in the Louis Philippe style, featuring an arched rectangular form with a repeating embossed gadroon and floral border. The frame is constructed of embossed metal (brass or white metal) over a solid wood core, a classic French mirror-making technique of the period. The original mirror glass shows natural foxing/desilvering throughout, a highly desirable patina that develops only through genuine age and cannot be replicated — sought after by collectors and designers for its authentic, soft antique look.
The mirror retains its original wood backing, including a fragments of period French newsprint referencing colonial trade and naval matters, offering a rare glimpse of provenance and supporting the piece's age. Fitted with the original wire hanging hardware.
