Botswana Agate is a variety of banded Chalcedony, a mineral of the Quartz family. It is predominantly banded in pink and gray shades, though some layers may contain a muted brown or apricot. The excellent grade is full of vivid veins and bands!
The color is authentic and natural. No thermal or other mechanical treatments were used. Even holes in the beads were drilled by hand. Each face was hand-ground. Therefore, each bead is not ideal and perfect at the same time. The agate beads are very old!

The necklace is fastened with a rare silver handmade clasp, with a cabochon made of rare natural fire agate.

This necklace alternates beads from Botswana agate with a 3-millimeter natural faceted garnet.

The weight of the necklace is 132 grams.

Botswana Agate is named after the African country of Botswana, where it is mined. Agates in Botswana are predominantly found in the Central District in the Bobonong area, the northeast along the Motloutse River, and the Serowe area southwest of Bobonong. The host rock is the basalt from the 180 Ma Karoo volcanic.
Locals in Botswana refer to this stone as the "Sunset Stone" because it preserves sunlight and soothes people throughout long evenings.
