A beautiful ceramic sculpture of The Three Graces by San Francisco Bay Area artist Robert Wolff. The three figures stand hand in hand in a circular composition feels personal and expressive, making it an appealing work by a California artist who clearly enjoyed putting his own touch on a timeless theme.
Known in Greek mythology as Aglaea (Beauty), Euphrosyne (Joy), and Thalia (Abundance), the Three Graces represent beauty, joy, and generosity, and have inspired artists from the ancient Greeks through the Renaissance and into the present day. In The Odyssey, the Graces are counted among the divine attendants of the Olympian gods, reinforcing their association with harmony, celebration, and hospitality.
California artist Robert Wolff has exhibited throughout the East Bay, and worked across a variety of media including woodcuts, watercolor, acrylic painting, wire sculpture, and ceramics.
Includes original exhibition label where it was priced at $1500. It's a lovely piece and actually appears larger in person.
