Pietersite is a commercial term for a variety of the mineral chalcedony. Pietersite is a gorgeous, unusual stone. It is considered a rare type of mineral. This was because initially, Pietersite was mined only in Namibia. Somewhat later, in 1997, Pietersites of other colors — bluish and golden ("hawk's eye" and "falcon's eye") began to arrive from China. It was a "young" mineral that was discovered in 1962 by Sid Pieters. Also, the main names may be referred to as "hawk eye" or "falcon eye."
