The oval table features a broad plank top above a substantial and ornate gate-leg base comprised of eight carved and turned baluster legs. The oak plank top is has a richly aged patina, with authentically aged wear, deep woodgrains, and use marks accumulated over time. The bottom is composed of four stationary turned baluster legs and four extending supports. The stationary legs are beautifully turned and carved, connected by low box stretchers and broad corner blocks and resting on large bun feet. The four swinging gate-leg supports are each crafted with an additional leg each joined to the table by a top and bottom connecting stretcher, able to swing out like a gate to support the extending leaves. When closed, the extending supports and table leaves fold flat into the table for storage, and while opened, the leaves expand the table into an impressively large eight-legged dining table. While closed, the table measures 22.5" across, and when opened, expands to 59" across. The table has ample leg room measuring 28.75" from the floor to the apron.
