Authentic 1960s mid-century Chinese camphor wood chest by George Zee & Co. Includes the original serialized maker's plate (No. 149098) from their Kwun Tong, Hong Kong factory. Original hardware does not include the locking pin.
Features & Materials
Exterior: Deeply hand-carved figural relief scenes on the front and top panels. Features original heavy brass hardware and corner accents.Interior: Solid, clean, unvarnished aromatic camphor wood that naturally repels insects. Includes the original removable sliding upper storage tray.
Condition Report
Woodwork: The deep, hand-carved scene work is in excellent, undamaged condition. Joints and hinges are structurally solid.
Finish: The flat, smooth lacquer borders and lid surfaces show noticeable vintage scratching and surface wear. There are no deep gouges into the raw wood, but the clear coat finish is not pristine. See photos for finish details.

The exterior flat surface of the wood has recently been treated with oil and beeswax. The brass has a beautiful aged patina left unpolished for collector's who prefer it. Small signs of vertigree on some of the brass pieces. Overall a beautiful aged piece. less
