Designed by Steve Sauer and later refined with Bruce Gueswel, this industrial dining chair was created for the early Chipotle restaurant interiors and reflects the designers' commitment to honest materials, structural clarity, and long-term durability.
Influenced by Frank Lloyd Wright's Usonian philosophy, the chair combines a welded bent steel rod frame with molded plywood seat and back panels. Its exposed hardware and minimalist construction have made it an enduring example of late 20th-century American industrial design.
Multiple chairs are available and are being sold individually. Photos represent the overall condition and construction. Buyers will receive a chair of comparable condition, with natural variations in wear, patina, staining, scratches, and chipping. Each chair has developed its own unique character from years of commercial use.
Condition:
Good vintage condition with wear consistent with commercial use. Plywood surfaces show varying degrees of scratches, stains, edge wear, and chips. Steel frames are structurally sound with attractive age-related patina.
