Designed during the height of the modernist movement, this piece exemplifies the expressive possibilities of the Rya tradition — a long-pile weaving technique prized for both comfort and visual impact. Hand-knotted in Sweden circa 1970s, the rug features an abstract, floral-inspired motif composed of concentric circular forms that pulse with energy. Vivid crimson, cherry red, deep burgundy, burnt orange, and flashes of plum and violet come together in a composition that feels both spontaneous and deliberate. The palette evokes a sense of fiery bloom, while the pattern’s rhythmic repetition lends structure. The thick, plush pile enhances the saturated tones and invites tactile engagement. This rug is not merely a floor covering — it’s a statement piece that functions as textile art. Its exuberant design captures the playful yet sophisticated spirit of postwar Swedish design, where traditional craftsmanship met bold experimentation. This exquisite rug is part of the diversified Doris Leslie Blau selections, renowned for its curated selection of antique, vintage, and contemporary rugs.
