The piece features … Read more A beautifully patinated cast bronze metal frog drum, rain drum, or side drink table from Southeast Asia. The piece features a broad circular top measuring 20" wide decorated with concentric rings with a geometric tribal banding and a central starburst medallion. The top sits above a tapering, drum-form body articulated with horizontal registers of incised geometric banding and subtle leaf and stem accents rising from the base. The silhouette is completed by sculptural ring handles and small animal head accents around the body and small stacked frog sets around the rim. The bronze has an attractive aged oxidized dark verdigris patina. Typically from east Burma or Myanmar, the piece is functionally versatile, well-suited for use as a side table, drinks table, stool, pedestal, or accent piece.
