Wolfgang Felber (1919–2002), „Zimmer", coloured pencil on paper, dated on the reverse 15 September 1976. This work bears the official estate stamp on the reverse.

Felber was an Austrian-German artist born in Salzburg, later based in Berlin. His work is characterised by a nervous, animated line combined with delicate colour work, creating a tense, dreamlike world between figuration and abstraction — somewhere between narrative scene and inner psychological image space.

„Zimmer" — Room — is deceptively simple as a title. The image it describes is anything but. Felber breaks the familiar domestic interior into its constituent parts: walls, objects, figures dissolve into one another in overlapping planes of warm colour. The room becomes a mental space as much as a physical one. There is something both intimate and unsettling about it — a quality Felber achieves again and again across his body of work.

The reverse bears the artist's own handwriting and dating, visible through the double acrylic glass frame — a rare and direct connection to the moment of creation.
