Framed 1979 artwork by artist Susan Pear Meisel, depicting the Smithsonian Institution Building in the National Mall in Washington DC. This offset lithograph print - titled "Wash Art '79" - is custom framed in a burgundy mat (that matches the tones in the painting), plexiglass and a high quality silver metal frame, with hanging wire on the back. The scene depicts balloon-carrying people in the gardens in front of the iconic red brick building (also known as the Smithsonian Castle) with red balloons flying up into the blue sky. “SPM 1979” n the bottom right corner.
Susan Pear Meisel (b. 1947, New York, NY) is known for her colorful, vibrant scenes depicting landmarks in NYC and other major cities in the USA. Meisel’s paintings contain an illustrative quality – her use of ink and lines create a playful layering within the composition.
