Item Description
For your consideration is a charming, beautifully preserved set of six (6) matching vintage small framed prints from the celebrated "Months of the Year" pastoral series. Originally painted in 1789 by British Master William Hamilton and engraved by legendary stipple artist Francesco Bartolozzi, these mid-20th-century color lithographic reproductions were published by the highly collectible Sidney Z. Lucas (New York).

• Framing: Framed under glass (Matching set of 6)

Decorator & Design Notes
• Instant Gallery Wall: Sourcing a perfectly matching run of six prints from this coveted calendar series is increasingly difficult. This cohesive grouping offers decorators an instant, high-impact vignette with uniform aging and structural integrity.
• Small Footprint, Big Impact: The slim, refined profile of these frames allows them to fit tightly into notoriously difficult, high-visibility spaces. They are ideal for flanking a powder room mirror, stacking vertically down an apartment entryway, filling a small hallway accent wall, or nesting above a dining room sideboard.
• Aesthetic Alignment: The soft, muted palette and historic subject matter fit seamlessly into high-end Grandmillennial, Cottagecore, English Country House, and Traditional Layered interior schemes.
Design & Collector Authentication
• Publisher Marks: Each print features the authentic, subtle "© Sidney Z. Lucas" publisher's mark along the upper-left margin.
• Historic Attribution: The paper retains the original historic plate credits inscribed along the bottom edge: "W. Hamilton R.A. pinxt" on the left and "F. Bartolozzi R.A. sculp." on the right.
• Production Technique: These mid-century lithographs replicate the fine texture of 18th-century stipple engraving—a meticulous "crayon" method where images are built from delicate, colored dots rather than sharp lines. Lucas utilized a heavy, textured cream paper that yields soft, romantic tones (pastel pinks, light blues, and earthy terracotta) rather than the flat saturation of modern digital prints.
• Embossed Borders: Features the iconic "French Mat" style. The ornate, leafy rectangular border surrounding the central oval vignette is printed directly onto the stock, accompanied by a distinct, raised, embossed plate indentation framing the artwork.
Months Included
• February: Winter Farmyard / Cattle Care
• March: Dairy Farmyard & Poultry
• May: May Day Celebration
• June: Haymaking Harvest
• September: Hop Picking Harvest
• October: Fruit Harvesting (Apples)
Framing & Exact Dimensions
The entire group is housed in its rare, original matching frames featuring a beautiful two-tone finish: an antiqued gold outer molding accented by a specialized sage green insert track that elevates the green and blue tones in the artwork. Because the frame molding features a sleek, ultra-thin profile, it beautifully maximizes the visual footprint of the artwork on your wall.
• Outer Frame Dimensions: 8" Wide x 9" High x 0.75" Deep
• Inner Sight Dimensions: 6.5" Wide x 7.5" High
• Frame Profile Width: 0.75"
