Authentic antique Chinese embroidered textile fragment, dating to the late Qing Dynasty (circa late 19th to early 20th century).
• Motif: Features a powerful, front-facing dragon head tapering into a clawless body covered in golden fish scales. This represents the highly symbolic "Dragon-Fish" (Yu Hualong) transformation, a traditional motif celebrating academic success, perseverance, ano high rank.
• Technique: Meticulous satin stitching accompanied by heavy "couched" metallic gold/silver threads used to define the scales and facial features.
• Backing & Presentation:
The fragment is mounted on a period-correct, coarse-woven fabric backing (hemp/linen blend) and comes beautifully housed in a minimalist black frame.
