Refined kilim from the Senneh area (present-day Sanandaj, in Persian Kurdistan), an expression of the prestigious Kurdish textile tradition and characterized by a rare synthesis of Persian decorative language and the iconography typical of Caucasian textiles.
The composition is dominated by an elegant prayer motif, developed through an imposing central niche that lends balance and great architectural strength to the entire piece. Within the field, a succession of geometric motifs with evident tribal influences is featured, among which the recurring comb motif stands out, a symbol traditionally associated with protection, fertility, and the continuity of life, widely present in Caucasian weaving.
The central medallion, constructed according to a rigorous geometric balance, harmoniously interacts with the numerous apotropaic elements scattered throughout the field and with the rich ornamental border, creating a composition of great aesthetic personality.
The color palette, dominated by intense indigo blue, coral red, terracotta tones, and warm ivory, conveys extraordinary visual depth, making this kilim perfectly suited to both classic and contemporary, minimalist, wabi-sabi, and japandi interiors.
More than a simple furnishing accessory, this piece represents an authentic example of oriental textile art, combining decorative value, ethnographic research, and material culture.
