item :
polychrome, vitrified hard-paste porcelain sculpture depicting a peasant girl or commoner with a basket of flowers. The work is entirely hand-decorated and features the artist's incised signature on the base: "callé." underneath the base are the number "1958" and the characteristic stamped fish-in-a-box logo, the symbol of giuseppe cappè's workmanship. Note that the letter "a" in the signature is shaped like a fish, and the two "p"s graphically resemble two "l"s: this is the logo used for pieces personally curated by giuseppe cappè or created during the artist's lifetime. This is an original piece, crafted from a high-quality ceramic mix rich in feldspars, which allowed for a particularly brilliant vitrification during the second firing at 1400 degrees. The sculpture's high artistic quality stands out, with meticulous attention to detail: from the plasticity of the face, hands, and fingers, to the basket of flowers and the folds of the clothing, to the extraordinary expressiveness of the pose. A splendid art sculpture, ideal for eclectic and refined collectors.
information on the artist and/or manufacturer:
giuseppe cappè (b. 1921) is one of the leading figures in 20th-century italian artistic porcelain. Trained at the historic ipa and king factories in capodimonte, he founded "cappè porcellane artistiche" in 1959. His production has been divided into two main lines of expression: neoclassical, with mythological subjects predominantly in white porcelain and gold finishes, and modern, characterized by original, realist-style creations. This second style, personal and unmistakable, tends towards irony and caricature, always maintaining an intense nuance of sweetness and melancholy. This piece has an attribution mark,
