French desk armchair from the second half of the 19th century, distinguished by a singular yet understated silhouette characteristic of Louis-Philippe revival furniture.
Its enveloping semicircular backrest, supported by delicately carved brackets, creates a graphic line that contrasts with the solidity of its circular oak seat. Turned front legs and sabre-shaped rear legs give the piece a balanced, refined appearance.
with its strong proportions and sculptural presence, this chair transcends its original office function. Its embracing form and restrained ornament allow it to sit just as naturally in a contemporary interior as in a more classical setting.
The chair is in good antique condition, with a beautifully aged oak patina and visible signs of use, as shown in the photographs. The cane seat has been renewed; minor irregularities and traces of former caning remain visible around its edge.
