Both items feature the … Read more This features the iconic Art Deco pottery designed by the independent English ceramics designer Susie Cooper. Both items feature the famous elegant "Kestrel" shape, which debuted in the early 1930s. The name is inspired by the kestrel bird's head, which resembles the distinctive tab finials on the lids. On the left is the standard Kestrel coffee pot, and on the right is the matching, slightly narrower hot water pot (often used for serving extra hot water alongside tea or coffee). They are covered in a minimalist, solid salmon pink or dusky pink glaze with contrasting cream rims and lid accents. These sets were manufactured at the Crown Works in Burslem, England. If you look at the bottom, they will likely feature the iconic printed "Leaping Deer" or "Gazelle" maker's mark. The shape range 'Kestrel' was first introduced at the British Industries Fair in 1932, and produced in various patterns for more than 20 years. A larger coffee pot of the same shape was also available. ‘Leaf’ pattern, no. 2083, was introduced in 1947, available in pink, smoke blue and sage colours, and shown at the British Industries Fair that year.
