An exquisite, highly atmospheric vintage hand-pulled woodblock print by the legendary Shin-Hanga landscape master, Tsuchiya Kōitsu (1870–1949). Titled Snow at Miyajima (Miyajima no yuki), this celebrated 1937 design captures a quiet, snowy twilight scene at the historic Itsukushima Shrine.
• Artistic Significance: A phenomenal example of Kōitsu's legendary handling of light and winter atmospheres. Features a mother and child under a traditional umbrella gazing across the snow toward an arched bridge, highlighted by a masterfully executed emerald-to-navy ink gradient (bokashi) representing the freezing shrine waters. Includes the artist's hand-carved signature and crane seal block in the lower left corner.
• Impeccable Vintage Provenance: Custom-framed on November 5, 1986, at the historic Sekai-Do art house in Shinjuku, Tokyo. Features the original gold metallic Sekai-Do label on the frame backing, and includes its original custom cardboard protective storage box bearing the authentic, computerized Sekai-Do register receipt strip time-stamped at 15:16 on 05/11/86.
• Framing & Quality: Housed in its original, traditional Japanese wood-slat tension export frame with hand-tied twine cord. Handsomely displayed under glass behind a rich navy blue mat border.
• Condition: Excellent vintage condition. The rich nighttime blues and crisp snowy details remain intensely bold and saturated with zero fading, foxing, or paper toning.
• Dimensions: 20" W x 14" H x 1" D
A museum-documented architectural masterpiece that makes a brilliant graphic anchor for any high-end Japandi, Scandinavian, or Mid-Century Modern interior layout. Ready to hang.
