This beautiful ceramic piece is a vintage Japanese white clay teapot, traditionally known as a Kyusu style or dobin (uphandle teapot). It features a small matte glaze (kannyu in Japanese), a technique where microscopic cracks form in the glaze during cooling. It uses an overhead metal handle with wicker wrapping. The double wire loops hook directly into the built-in ceramic ears (kamamimi) on the pot's shoulder. It includes a small metal chain connecting the handle to the lid's button finial, a traditional, practical feature designed to prevent the lid from slipping off and breaking while pouring.
