Distinguished by its remarkably intricate drawing, balanced proportions, and refined tribal artistry, this elegant runner reflects the high weaving standards that have made antique Shirvan rugs among the most sought-after Caucasian textiles.

The warm ivory field is completely covered with hundreds of meticulously woven small boteh (paisley) motifs, creating an extraordinary allover lattice that gives the rug remarkable visual depth and rhythm. Each boteh is individually rendered in rich shades of indigo, brick red, sky blue, ivory, and soft camel, producing a lively mosaic of geometric precision and vibrant color.

The field is framed by striking crimson main borders decorated with bold geometric devices and reciprocal motifs, enclosed by deep sapphire blue guard borders filled with classic Caucasian eight-pointed stars and rosettes. The multiple borders provide exceptional balance while beautifully accentuating the elongated proportions of the runner.

Handwoven from finely spun wool and colored with rich natural vegetable dyes, this runner exhibits the crisp drawing, dense weave, and superb craftsmanship for which the finest Shirvan weavings are internationally recognized. The harmonious palette has mellowed gracefully over more than a century, developing the rich patina and character found only in authentic nineteenth-century Caucasian rugs.
