Cast in the elegant, naturalistic style of his early 20th-century work, it stands on a turned wooden pedestal, marked with the artist's monogram "T.S" to the base. Born in Stockholm and trained at the Academy of Fine Arts, Strindberg is best known for his classical realist bronzes of the 1920s and '30s, and is considered a key figure in Swedish Art Deco sculpture.
