A sculptural natural mineral specimen from Christopher Marley’s Pheromone collection, featuring stilbite and heulandite on quartz and originating from India.
Identified on the original label as “Versicolored,” the specimen presents a dramatic contrast of pale blush, peach, cream, smoky gray, and nearly black mineral tones. Fan-like stilbite formations emerge from the dark quartz matrix alongside smaller crystalline deposits, recessed cavities, and sparkling surfaces that reveal additional detail from different viewing angles.
The elongated, irregular formation has a particularly sculptural profile. Its darker outer matrix frames the softer peach-toned crystals, creating a composition that feels both geological and almost abstract when viewed from a distance.
The mineral is mounted against an all-white recessed background with a beveled opening that presents the formation like a three-dimensional portrait. A warm silver-toned metallic shadow-box frame gives the piece a clean architectural presence while allowing the specimen to project forward from the background. The restrained white and metallic presentation places the emphasis on the mineral’s natural tonal variation, contrasting textures, and dimensional crystalline structure.
Christopher Marley’s Pheromone collection brings natural specimens into carefully composed, museum-like presentations that blur the line between natural history and sculptural art. Christopher Marley’s Pheromone mineral collection is no longer in current production. As a result, authentic framed examples have become increasingly scarce on the secondary market, with limited availability contributing to stronger collector interest and rising asking prices.
The original Christopher Marley Pheromone identification label remains attached to the reverse and identifies the specimen as stilbite and heulandite on quartz from India. The white mount bears his embossed signature at the lower right.
Dimensions
12.5 in. W × 15.5 in. H × 3 in. D
Condition statement
Excellent overall condition. The mineral specimen remains securely mounted and presents beautifully within the recessed white mount. The formation retains its layered natural structure, including pale peach and cream stilbite crystals, darker quartz matrix, recessed cavities, smaller crystalline deposits, and naturally varied mineral coloration visible throughout the specimen.
The warm silver-toned metallic shadow-box frame and white interior show only minor signs of handling. The original Christopher Marley Pheromone identification label remains attached to the reverse, and Christopher Marley’s embossed signature is present at the lower right of the mount.
Natural fissures, irregular edges, mineral deposits, inclusions, matrix variation, cavities, and differences among the crystal formations are inherent characteristics of the specimen rather than condition issues. Please review all photographs closely.
