Rich with early 20th-century character, this substantial American oak armchair features beautifully aged quarter-sawn oak construction accented by delicate turned spindle details and carved scrollwork along the crest rail. The tall silhouette and gently curved arms lend the piece a stately presence, while the dark embossed leather seat, secured with decorative nailhead trim, adds warmth and texture.
Likely dating to the 1910s or 1920s, this chair reflects the transition between Arts & Crafts and Colonial Revival design. Its sturdy frame and handsome proportions make it equally suited for use as a desk chair, entryway accent, library seating, or as part of a collected antique interior.
The chair retains an attractive patina developed over decades of use, showcasing the beauty of aged oak and traditional craftsmanship.
Condition: Good antique condition consistent with age and use. Surface scratches, finish wear, scuffs, and areas of discoloration are present throughout, particularly along the arms, legs, and back rails. The embossed leather seat shows expected wear and minor marks. Upholstery support beneath the seat exhibits age-related wear but remains functional. Please review all photographs carefully.
