An impressive room-size hand-knotted area rug featuring an elaborate allover floral design inspired by traditional Oushak and Agra carpets. The muted taupe-gray field is densely decorated with stylized palmettes, blossoms, scrolling vines and geometric floral accents in ivory, beige, soft gold, dusty rose and rust.
A wide rust-colored border with large ivory botanical motifs frames the intricate central field. The softly aged palette gives the rug an elegant, collected appearance while remaining neutral enough for a living room, dining room, bedroom or formal seating area.
The reverse shows individually tied knots and a woven foundation. The pile appears to be wool over a cotton foundation, although the fiber content and country of origin have not been independently verified.
