A striking example of 1970s geometric abstraction in steel. Created during the 1970s, Balance reflects the era’s fascination with minimalist form, industrial materials, and the relationship between structure and space. Fabricated from steel and finished with a rich natural patina developed over time, the sculpture embodies both the bold experimentation and enduring craftsmanship of the period. Composed of interlocking angular forms that appear to hover in equilibrium, Balance creates a compelling visual tension between weight and lightness, movement and stability. Its open geometric framework draws the eye through the sculpture, revealing new perspectives from every angle and encouraging contemplation of the forces that hold opposing elements in harmony. The warm, weathered steel surface enhances its sculptural presence, while the clean architectural lines remain distinctly modern more than fifty years after its creation. The work stands as a testament to the timeless appeal of mid-century and post-minimalist design, making it equally at home in contemporary interiors, sculpture gardens, and curated collections.
