Made by the Parisian sculptors Alice Chanal and Eugène Louis Chanal, this pair of Art Nouveau salt cellars is cast in pewter. Each piece takes the form of a stylised leave with a gently curling handle, embodying the movement's fascination with organic forms and flowing lines.
Modest in scale, they were designed to sit close at hand, quietly accompanying the rituals of the table rather than commanding it. The softly worn pewter has developed a mellow patina over time, accentuating the subtle modelling of the shells and their sculptural character. I have official proof of authenticity such as vintage catalogs,
designer records,
or other literature sources and take full responsibility for any authenticity issues arising

misattribution
