This is an original work of art depicting Picasso’s 1932 painting “Girl before a Mirror”. There are two abstract, elongated faces in profile and frontal view simultaneously. It features bold, black outlines and bright geometric diamond patterned background. It is a composition that depicts a conversation or embrace between two figures.
It is a very interesting process used by the artist to create this original handcrafted decor. A plaster-like substance was applied to the board and then a silver foil applied to the top of that. The artist incised the design creation into the foil prior to painting it with acrylics. It is totally handcrafted and hand painted. I had an art restorer look at this work of art and he explained this time consuming process. He was impressed because it IS NOT a mass produced reproduction, and he could respect the artist’s originality. Please check photos to see the different textures.
