Maruyama Ōkyo, a master from Kyoto renowned for introducing Western realism and precise nature observation to traditional Japanese painting. The vertical characters on the left side include the historical calendar date "丙戌季冬" (Late Winter of the Bingxu Year, corresponding to early 1767) followed by his signature "応挙" (Ōkyo) and his red artist seals. The original 18th-century masterpiece was painted as a traditional scroll or folding screen panel. This square, double-matted design set inside a mid-to-late 20th-century metallic frame is a classic modern decor presentation.
