The painting is signed by f. Jorwitz. Ferdinand jorwitz was a painter who lived in belgium (1897 – 1979). He was a painter of landscapes, still life paintings and flowers. He often paints the landscape of brabant in a melancholic way and the old parts of brussels. Often by his hand are still life paintings with gloomy backgrounds and warm and faded tones.

the painting is framed in a 1950s-60s style frame with glass. The painting probably dates from the mid century as well. The frame is signed on the back: impasse des quatre-livres, brussels.
