The work of Brazilian-born designer David Elia confronts many of the most volatile social issues of his hometown Rio de Janeiro ;violence, drug trafficking, and inadequate civil infrastructure ;lyrically repurposing found and mundane materials with the goal of creating art that reflects life. Elia' Stray Bullet series originated with the 2010 conflicts between the military police and drug traffickers in Rio, in which a number of innocent fell victim to sudden, deadly crossfire. Elia was deeply moved by the circumstances and was inspired to intervene upon the ubiquitous polypropylene Monobloc chairs that line Rio's favela neighborhoods, riddling them with eyelet hardware that mimics bullet holes. The Stray Bullet collection expanded to include tables, shelves, vases, and more, some now a part of the permanent collection of New York's Museum of Arts & Design.
The Stray Bullet Pillow explores another material common on the streets of Rio: Brazilian leather. For this project, Elia's own atelier, Design Da Gema, hand stitches scraps of black leather and red vinyl, embellished with golden eyelets. Produced as a limited edition of eight pieces, handcrafted to order.

- Upon inspection, If you decide not to move forward with the purchase, you or your agent must refuse the item at the time of pickup/delivery from the seller
