The base is the classic double X-form (sawbuck) trestle, joined with pegged through-tenons you can see right through the timber, tied together by a single long stretcher. The whole thing is dry, pale, scrubbed pine with a soft bone-and-honey tone, and the top carries a lifetime of marks — stains, scars, old scribed circles, shrinkage, and scattered worm — that read as a record rather than as damage.

The proportions are the best part: 79.25" long but only 19.75" deep, so it slips behind a sofa, down a hallway, or against a long wall without eating the room, and at 32.25" high it stands at serving/console height. Use it as a console, a sofa table, an entry table, a serving or buffet table, a bar, or a standing work table.
