Handsome vintage mid-century ceramic table lamp with a great graphic profile. The turned urn-form body is glazed in a soft matte teal-green that breaks and pools over the ridges — showing lovely warm ochre where the glaze thins — and is belted through the middle with a dark brown-black band cut by crisp incised white sgraffito lines. Fine concentric lines ring the neck and foot as well, giving the whole thing a precise, lathe-turned rhythm. The green-and-black-and-cream palette is pure 1950s–60s, and the color is genuinely beautiful in person.
It sits on a small square wood plinth and is topped with a burlap drum shade whose warm natural texture is exactly right for the glaze. Lit, it throws a lovely golden glow (see photo).
Tested and working.
