We walked like our mum. We mimicked those around us.

It never really stops. As adults, we consciously and subconsciously act like those we admire at first. We do it long enough, building expertise in the process until we can find our own voice - our own style and approach to things.

From a theological standpoint, this piece examines the beauty of followership. Following God's steps. I like how the shadow of the subject (my goddaughter) falls behind her as she follows the steps in front of her. It's what light does. He who must walk in faith must have the heart of a child. In the words of Jesus: “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these.” See less
