This large-format plate, measuring 22" x 15", is a masterful reproduction of a 16th-century Spanish manuscript page from the "Cançoner d’Amor" (Songbook of Love), currently held in the Bibliothèque Royale de Paris (Ms. 7699).

The print features the "Complanta de la mort" (Lament of Death) in sharp Gothic script. The left margin is decorated with an intricate architectural and floral illumination in gold, blue, and crimson.
