This elegant French table lamp, created in the 1960s, draws inspiration from the restrained vocabulary of Neoclassical and Directoire decorative arts. Its balanced silhouette—composed of a spherical body resting on a baluster-shaped pedestal—recalls timeless architectural forms reinterpreted through mid-century French craftsmanship.
Crafted in hand-painted ceramic with a convincing trompe-l'œil faux bois finish, the lamp combines warm amber tones with delicate geometric and floral motifs. The result is both refined and understated, equally at home in a traditional interior or alongside contemporary furniture.
Rather than reproducing historical styles literally, this piece reflects the French decorative tradition of the 1950s and 1960s, when classical references were reimagined through cleaner proportions and a more restrained aesthetic.
The original shade is preserved and gently diffuses a warm light that enhances the rich tones of the ceramic body.
Condition: Good overall condition. The original lampshade shows a few discreet marks on its upper section, visible in the photographs.
