Each chair has a tall, split backrest carved from two curved uprights, joined by two through-tenon crossbars locked with visible pegs. The seat is formed from two thick oak planks, plugged over the fixings, and set on splayed round legs joined by an H-stretcher. The oak carries a warm, uneven tone across the set, with individual chairs ranging from a lighter honey shade to a deeper reddish-brown. Construction is heavy throughout, with substantial jointery visible at every connection. A well-built set with a strongly sculptural, hand-worked character. See less
