This exceptionally large Italian majolica tureen likely dates from the 1970s and embodies the vibrant ceramic artistry for which workshops in regions like Deruta and Faenza are renowned worldwide. Its form, glaze, and lively hand-painting speak to traditional 20th-century Italian craftsmanship.
The tureen is made of tin-glazed majolica ceramic and entirely hand-painted. The floral decoration, featuring yellow, pink, and blue blossoms, is complemented by delicately painted tendrils. Turquoise-glazed handles and a terracotta-colored lid knob lend the piece its characteristic Mediterranean flair. Minor variations in the decoration and slight irregularities in the glaze are typical characteristics of handcrafted pieces and underscore the authenticity of each individual item.
with a capacity of approximately 4.8 liters, the tureen was originally used as a generous serving dish for soups and festive meals. Today, it serves equally well as a decorative statement piece on a dining table, sideboard, or in an open-plan kitchen, and harmonizes beautifully with Mediterranean, rustic, or country-style interiors.
The tureen is in good condition. The visible minor irregularities are manufacturing marks from the glazing and firing process and are not chips. Signs of age and use are present and consistent with its age and original function.
The tureen has been carefully cleaned at Sinteins. To preserve its historical character and original surface, no restorations or refinishing have been carried out.
A unique decorative piece of Italian ceramic art with authentic vintage character and exceptional presence.
