A monumental Hollywood studio torch sculpture of impressive scale and dramatic presence, standing approximately six feet tall. Professionally fabricated of welded steel with hand-applied scenic finishes, the piece features sculptural torch vessels, architectural supports, textured wrapped elements, and a distinctive radiating tripod base. Originally engineered as a theatrical torch, it now serves as a striking sculptural statement equally suited to contemporary, Brutalist, industrial, or cinematic interiors.
This piece was acquired directly from a longtime Hollywood prop professional in Los Angeles who had retained it for approximately twenty years. It was purchased directly by myself as part of a group of scenic elements that included multiple pieces from Tim Burton's 2001 film Planet of the Apes. These including architectural set components and themed scenic props many of which were definitively screen matched. Based on the information provided by the professional who worked props on this film, the torch is believed to originate from the same production. While that attribution has not been definitively confirmed through screen matching or studio documentation, the personal provenance provides a strong basis for the association.
The sculpture retains its original theatrical construction, including untested electrical and torch components. It is offered as a decorative sculptural object rather than as a functional lighting fixture. Any future adaptation for decorative lighting should be performed by a qualified professional.

Condition
Very good vintage studio-used condition. Professionally fabricated for theatrical use with expected surface wear, oxidation, and finish variation consistent with age, production use, and storage. Retains its original scenic finish and theatrical construction. There is a break to a small decorative element near the torch head, which does not significantly detract from the overall sculptural presentation. Original gas and electrical components remain present including the third upper arm where presumably gas was piped in, but these have not been tested and are offered strictly for display purposes. Structurally stable and displays beautifully.
